, local playwright Bryan Maynard says this year’s The Whole Nine Yards
isn’t getting any easier. “I like to call this ‘contained chaos,’” Maynard says. “On Friday night, all of the chosen writers gather together and randomly draw genres and a cast of actors. At that point, the writers are released to go off and create a brand-new ten-minute play — overnight.” The actors and directors have just the day to find props and costumes, rehearse and get ready for Saturday night’s performances. The annual fund-raiser for Cone Man Running Productions and The Landing Theatre Company benefits the Houston Food Bank (each canned or nonperishable food item knocks a dollar off the ticket price; limit five), and they are dedicating this year’s show to the late Scott Holmes.
7 and 9:45 p.m. Saturday. The Landing Theatre, 1119 Providence. For information, call 281-972-5897 or visit conemanrunning.com

Benefitting the Houston Food Bank
It's back! The craziest night of scripted theatre you have ever experienced is back to not only entertain but, as always, to raise funds and food for the Houston Food Bank! On Saturday, November 26th, your free shot will be waiting for you at the door and the combined efforts of over 50 people will be on display in a completely random and raucous night of theatre not suitable for all ages.
At 7PM on Friday, November 25th, the writers will meet and randomly draw their actors, get their other parameters and endeavor (sober or not) to write a presentable short play. They arrive back at the theater on Saturday, November 26th, scripts in hand at 8AM to hand off to the directors and casts who have until 7PM to run around and rehearse, find props and costumes and be amazing for two performances that very night - one at 7PM and one at 9:45PM. YES, IT'S ONE NIGHT ONLY - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 26TH!
We're back with our friends at The Landing Theatre Company who are generously hosting us again!
