America's third coast takes center stage in this tome by environmental historian Jack E. Davis. The Gulf of Mexico serves as the main character as Davis tells the story of its evolution through tales of offshore drilling, New England fishermen, and downstream contamination by big agriculture and industry. Davis says the story isn't over and hopes to see our favorite body of water overcome centuries of assaults to regain its natural beauty. He'll be on hand at Brazos to discuss and sign copies of his book.
