Award-winning country and western singer/guitarist TJ Nelson returns to Houston with a performance at the Firehouse Saloon and the release of his highly anticipated 4-track EP "United We Stand." another fine example of his characteristic blend of western swing, southern rock. and traditional country. The compelling story of his evolution and tutelage in the country music scene read just like Hollywood fiction. TJ was born and raised in South Dakota and wound up in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he now lives. His musical influences include country legends Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, Allan Jackson and Merle Haggard. He credits Charlie Louvin (The Louvin Brothers, Grand Ole Opry) as someone who ‘showed him the ropes’ as a younger musician, steadily and consistently performing at clubs, concerts and rodeo dances throughout the US southern states. He's opened for Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Watson, and Floyd Rose.
The release of his new EP reflects his passion and his patriotism. The title track, "United We Stand" (the title track of his new EP) is a timely call for unity and pride in his beloved America, grappling at present with social and political divisions. A portion of profits from the sale of "United We Stand" is going to the foundation for training dogs to assist returned U.S. military services personnel.
