Fort Bend County Libraries is pleased to announce the return of live theatrical performances to George Memorial Library’s Jodie E. Stavinoha Amphitheater.
Live performances by Pandora Theatre of an original theater production of "Vox Feminina VII, Laugh Lines," will be presented on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, and on Sunday, November 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in the Jodie E. Stavinoha Amphitheater at George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond.
The production is the seventh installment of the Houston-area community-theater group’s annual celebration of the feminine spirit, as portrayed by performances of original short plays, monologues, music, and performance pieces. "Vox Feminina VII, Laugh Lines," revels in various situational moments that can arise from some of the simplest pleasures in life, and that cause those lovely little wrinkles to form.
Please note that this production contains content that may not be appropriate for those under the age of 16.
Each year, the Pandora Theatre variety show features new performance pieces by artists from Houston as well as from across the country. This year’s production will specifically showcase the talents of local artists, directors and actors from Houston and the immediate outlying areas.
Pandora Theatre, a Houston-area community-theater group, can trace its origins to George Memorial Library’s immensely popular Shakespeare-by-the-Book Festival, when a handful of female actors in the performances felt a void of roles in contemporary theater for older women in their 40s and 50s. They took it upon themselves to fill that shortfall with original works that would reflect real women caught up in life’s everyday idiosyncrasies.
The performance is presented in an outdoor amphitheater, and seating is concrete. Theater-goers are encouraged to bring cushions to sit on. Lawn chairs are limited to two specified rows, on a first-come, first-served basis. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, and popcorn are not allowed in the amphitheater.
Free and open to the public, the performances are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of George Memorial Library.
