It’s been insinuated by some that the Zac Brown Band should simply close out RodeoHouston every year, though that may change after the show Chris Stapleton put on this year. Nevertheless, the Atlanta-based rodeo favorites (Sunday will mark their sixth time on the revolving stage) possess a perfect catalog for the hour-long set. The band doesn’t lack for fun, up-tempo tunes — “Chicken Fried” and “Toes” come to mind — nor slower numbers that detail love and loss, in particular “Highway 20 Ride,” “Colder Weather” and “Goodbye in Her Eyes.” Point being, ZBB does everything well, whether singing from the heart or imploring the audience to grab a drink or stand up and sing along. Brown is an excellent songwriter and storyteller, and with four platinum records and numerous No. 1 singles to their credit, his band is sure to dazzle the crowd as yet another rodeo season draws to a close.
