Elizabeth Kozlowski, curator at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, says the organization’s newest exhibit, “CraftTexas 2014,” reveals the depth and breadth of talent in the state of Texas. The eighth in a series of biennial juried exhibitions showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft, “CraftTexas 2014” features 49 works by 44 Texas artists in a variety of media including sculpture, jewelry, textiles, installations and furniture. The works were selected from a pool of 176 applicants and 477 entries by three jurors: Carol Sauvion, the woman behind the PBS TV series Craft in America; Piero Fenci, head of the ceramics department at Stephen F. Austin State University; and Clint Willour, curator of the Galveston Arts Center. (Both Fenci and Willour are HCCC Texas Masters.)

There’s an opening reception at 5:30 p.m. September 26. Regular viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Through December 24. 4848 Main. For information, call 713-529-4848 or visit crafthouston.org. Free.
