Now here’s a pair of old five-and-dimers. Between the two of them, Willie Nelson and Billy Joe Shaver are responsible for almost as many classic outlaw-country songs as ex-wives, and have released some damn fine albums in the past 18 months alone — Nelson with To All the Girls… and Band of Brothers, and Shaver on Long in the Tooth. On Tuesday (a show postponed from February), perhaps Nelson can be persuaded to deviate from his famously hidebound set list to sing “It’s Hard to Be an Outlaw,” the duet that opens Long in the Tooth and hinges on the completely untrue refrain “It’s hard to be an outlaw who ain’t wanted anymore."
