The cute City Cafe diner has been serving huge, Texas-style breakfasts and bountiful steam-table lunches since 1952. The chicken-fried steak is great any time of day, whether with fried eggs and grits in the morning or with a side of macaroni and cheese at lunch. It's located in South Houston, so not subject to the City of Houston's no smoking ordinance. The smoking section is where you'll find all the good action from the colorful regulars.
