If you take the vibe of West Alabama Ice House in Montrose, condense it down and slice that establishment into quarters, you get Jimmy's Ice House; a little gruffer than West Alabama, but chalk that up to its old-school brewhouse charm. There are infinitely more nooks and crannies to post up in, and more than enough paraphernalia on the walls to keep you occupied. The icehouse is also a favorite of Houston's scooter set, who meet up there at least once a month there to partake of the cheap domestic brews. Jimmy's occasionally hosts open-mike nights where you might find a hidden gem or two.
