The daily lunch specials at this soul food cafeteria are unbelievable bargains. Ham hocks and smothered steak appear often. So does a hamburger steak, which is actually more like a baby meat loaf studded with green peppers and simmered in a tomato sauce. Salt pork-flavored green beans and baked yams are popular sides. The seasonings are mild, but adjusting the heat level with the available arsenal of chiles and hot sauces is part of the fun.
