For Italian-American classics like spaghetti and meatballs, sausage-and-pepper sandwiches, cheese pizzas and calzones, you cant beat Antonios. It doesnt just look like an East Coast red-checkered tablecloth pizzeria, it really is one. Owner Antonio Rosa threw pizzas in Connecticut and New Jersey before he moved to Houston and opened Antonios Flying Pizza in 1971. - Robb Walsh
The staff is rude, and the food is middling at best. The eggplant was one of the worst I've had, and the pizza was just OK. Had the woman at the register looked up instead of muttering goodbye to the paper in front of her, she would have seen me for the last time. Shame on the Houston Press critic who led me here. Here's my recommendation: write honest reviews in the future.

CMicheal had a bad experience ... shame. It's the best pizza in Houston. Period. My family's been going regularly for more than 30 years, and we live nowhere close to it. The restaurant is worth the trek.

The food is excellent! The only problem is the lack of wait staff on hand to offer excellent service to match the food. There is no bartender to serve drinks while you wait for a table. They do not have enough waitstaff working to give attentive service-too many tables in their sections. Their waiting area is part of the dinning room by the bar. Why not put more waiters on the schedule to give better service. Get rid of the false wait created by scheduling issues.

Antonio's - hands down the best Italian food in Houston. I can't wait to bring my Italian cousin (marriage) here to try it out. This is consistency and delicious food at it's best by real Italians!

There were 3 of us there, one of us was satisfied. I was given food other than what I ordered. I received a sausage sandwich smothered in a mediocre tomato sauce. The person who ordered the pizza was not pleased. I thought the prices were not commensurate with either the service or the food. The atmosphere was noisy, the help, indifferent. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Overall:
For many years Antonio's was one of the best pizza joints in town. The service has always been slow and the waits were long, but somehow the food always seemed worth the hassle. But my last two visits were... well my last two visits. The pizzas seem to have lost their luster and now seem more like Pizza Hut or Papa John's and I learned that they cook several popular pizzas in advance and then finish them off when you order one. The balance of the menu seems to have fallen off as well. The service has always been horrible, but believe it or not, it's gotten worse. So long Rosa's, I've moved to better pizza pastures.
