West Ave needed a wine bar, and Cru has obliged. This is one Dallas import that we like, though, and a more realistic wine bar than most in Houston: Its bottles are actually stored at appropriate temperatures, and its employees usually know their Zinfandels from their White Zins. The menu offers a little bit of something for every palate, from stone-fired pizzas to cheese plates. There are fuller dinner items, such as the pork chop with Swiss chard, but we prefer to keep the bites small and the glasses big at Cru.
