This small French bistro tucked into a strip center in the Heights is charming and relaxed, but also a bit idiosyncratic. All of the dishes are traditional French fare without any modernization, but some of them, unfortunately, rely upon canned or frozen ingredients. Others, like the Camembert, are some of the best available in Houston. Chef/owner Philippe Harel works in the restaurant with his wife, Béline, and son, Romain, which gives it the feel of an old-fashioned mom-and-pop cafe. The wine list is great and the crêpes are Harel's specialty. He clearly knows how to make French food, and if he just starts focusing on sourcing the best ingredients and perfecting several solid dishes, this new restaurant could become an old favorite.
