Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge

The Big Top is the tattooed younger brother of the adjacent Continental Club and the surlier cousin of uber-hipster holy land The Mink right around the corner. This block is one of Houston’s most colorful, with its restaurants and music venues teeming on the weekends with H-Town’s most unique and roots-driven patrons. Big Top is very heavy on circus-décor, as hinted at in its moniker. Other than your childhood room, where else can you have a drunken conversation with a vintage Pee Wee Herman doll? Several adorn the back wall of the bar, with tons of antique beer art. The Big Top is decorated in quaint circus paraphernalia of yore, with portraits and signs from that uniquely bygone American era of hucksters and freak shows.
