Chef Monica Pope's locavore paradise, Sparrow Bar + Cookshop, is located in the same space that once housed her famous t'afia. At Sparrow, the atmosphere is casual and the simple menu is interactive: You build your own meal from a short selection of entrées and sides, and are invited to share (or not) the small selection of appetizers. Be warned, however, that the sizes and prices of the various dishes don't always match up — ask your waiter for guidance. Entrées include dishes such as crispy chicken and chermoula-glazed scallops, while shareable plates feature items like an inventive avocado "sashimi" and antelope-topped cheese grits.
