Walter’s On Washington has the distinct honor of being one of H-Town’s last true rock clubs. They aren’t a corporate operation, no one is sweeping up beer bottles during a show, and the smoking area outside has no security guards lording over it like a babysitter. And booze is dirt cheap, unlike some places around here that put a dent in your merch money just to buy a Pabst. It’s dark and cave-like, but the air conditioner is always blasting away like a mofo, so it doesn’t get too hot during a show for all you old-timers. This is also an all-ages venue, which is good or bad depending on whom you ask. The sound quality is amazingly clear for a venue its size as well. One of the best parts about Walter’s and its location is watching the party girls ogle the indie-rockers from Pearl Bar just across the street, and Lord help them when there is a death-metal show in town.
