Yao Restaurant and Bar - Closed

1201 Main St. Houston, TX 77002 | Downtown/ Midtown | 713-739-9267

Location Description:

Located in on of the many strip malls along outer-Loop Westhiemer, Yao brings upscale Chinese cuisine to Houston. (The restaurant is owned by the oft-injured but popular Rockets center, Yao Ming.) The interior is a classy mix of upscale West and traditional Chinese. The menu boasts a number of high-protein, low-fat menu items like Moo Goo Gai Pan and Szechaun Chicken with Chinese eggplant. More exotic dishes like Phoenix Wings also grace the menu. (Of course, all the Chinese-American standards are available.) While Yao himself might not make an appearance during your visit, you can count on his parents being there - they run the restaurant on a day-to-day basis.
