10 Cool & Cheap Weekenders: November 16-18

Rusko Warehouse Live, November 16

Rusko's show at Stereo Live back in May didn't go so well, so it's a little surprising to see the bad boy of dubstep back in Houston so soon. The 27-year-old British DJ and producer cursed and wobbled his way through a bass-drenched set that was one of the raunchier sets in recent memory at the Richmond EDM palace. Later the mohawked one really gave it to the Stereo Live sound engineer on Twitter, and a crafty cell-phone cameraperson caught a Grade-A tantrum outside Rusko's tour bus.

Don't expect an apology (it is a different venue), just more filthiness and probably some new cuts from the KAPOW EP he just released on iTunes for the price of either a tweet or a Facebook post. CHRIS GRAY

FallCore Walters, November 17

Yes, it's FallCore time again, an annual must-attend event for local metalheads, hardcore kids and even a few wayward pop-punkers. This long-running mini-festival, brainchild of Hatetank Productions promoter Willow Villarreal, is still going strong on its twelfth edition and you know it just wouldn't be a FallCore without Will to Live and Pride Kills indoctrinating the new kids. Paul Ramirez Band Continental Club, November 17

A weekly gig is about the best way for guitarists to hone their craft, and Houston's Paul Ramirez has done just that Wednesday nights at the Continental Club for more than a year now. It pays off in Sex With a Dragon, his debut CD that throws in a little Santana and New Orleans R&B into Ramirez's stick-to-your-ribs Texas blues-rock and shows some salty reverence towards Blind Lemon Jefferson's "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean." Dragon breathes enough fire that it doesn't wilt when held up to the gold standard of 2012 Lone Star guitarslinger offerings, Gary Clark Jr.'s Blak and Blu. CHRIS GRAY

SEVEN OTHER SHOWS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER

Al Stewart: The Scottish singer-songwriter has an hour or two to convince you he's done a lot more than 1975's "Year of the Cat." Shouldn't be that difficult. (Dosey Doe, November 16)

Great White, Black Queen Speaks: My, my, my. The "Once Bitten" guys join Houston's soulful BQS on this hard-rockin' double bill. (House of Blues, November 16)
