Well time to pass the tissue to those of you who love walking through IAH or Hobby with $200 headphones around your head like a fashion statement. In news more likely to occur than Dr. Dre's Detox album, Monster has announced that it will no longer be making Beats By Dre headphones.

Chalk up another marriage broken up by irreconcilable differences.

According to Businessweek, Beats' Jimmy Iovine & Monster's Noel Lee got into a pissing contest over who was more responsible for the brand's 53-perecent share of the $1 billion headphone market. So without much of a fight, Jimmy opted out of their five-year agreement with the company, leaving Monster with perceived losses.

The idea about Beats By Dre is that they're a totem for the new aged wannabe audiophile, sleek in design and popularity for being noise reducers on airplanes and pretty much everywhere else. They're put in laptops, car stereoes & have essentially gone side-by-side with any new Apple product as a must have.

Much like any status symbol, the look is great. Actual product? Not so much. Aside from breaking easily and needing to be recalled a few times, sound quality amplifies bass and distorts everything else. Audophiles loathe them the general public loves them and every rapper from 50 Cent to Ludacris has attempted to cash in, none with as much appeal as the good doctor.

As for Dr. Dre's concern? We hear he was busy making a Tumblr dedicated to all those photo ops he's done in his studio. You know, since we're never getting rap's version of Chinese Democracy.
