The sixth Canned Acoustica concert is coming up on Friday night on the Warehouse Live Green Room stage, and the lineup features B L A C K I E, Craig Kinsey, Second Lovers, New York City Queens, and Featherface. If you have never been to one of these shows -- which feature normally plugged-in bands well, unplugged -- then Friday is a good of a night as any to start.
Performers in the past have included Fat Tony playing with Two Star Symphony, metallers Venomous Maximus turning their jams into acoustic dirges, Los Skarnales managing to make the walls sweat sans electricity, and a stellar solo set from Robert Ellis. There was a great Niceguys set in there too.
As with every one of these shows, set up by The Convoy Group's Mark C. Austin, a charitable donation is all that is needed for admission. Sometimes it has been school supplies, which go to local schools.
This time at the door they are asking for canned goods which will be donated to the Houston Food Bank.
According to Austin, they decided to go with fewer acts this time to give each a little more time to work with. Also, if you enjoyed B L A C K I E's latest album GEN, his performance will be up your proverbial alley. Word is that he will be playing with a band, totally different than his usually solo performance style, but then again he could fly alone.
