It's hard to believe that the funding for a Nepalese Buddhist monastery and teaching center will come from the likes of bands named Come See My Dead Person and Thunderkunt, but that's Houston love for ya. Friday night at Fitzgerald's, 13 bands will gather for "Dharmageddon" to help raise cash for the cause, including local rap behemoths Fat Tony and the recently-shorn B L A C K I E, who both just landed prime slots at November's Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin. Almost every band on this bill is releasing an album this year or already has. Just this past spring, Young Girls released a self-titled set on HomeSkool Rekordz, and between small-scale touring, Chase Hamblin has been tweaking his new Vaudeville for an early fall release. Tax the Wolf is said to be working on a follow-up to last year's breakthrough Hold The Sun as well. Those of drinking age can see all these bands for the low, low price of just one green picture of Alexander Hamilton, but underagers will need two additional George Washingtons.
