House of Blues has extended its "Great Rock 'N' Roll Sample Sale" to a second day, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today in the Bronze Peacock Room. Sales tax for all merchandise, available for as low as $3 for CDs and hats (Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, KISS) or even $1 for tour programs (Springsteen, U2), is included in the price.
Rocks Off Sr. visited the sale Sunday afternoon and came away with very nice Kings of Leon and Lynyrd Skynyrd T-shirts for $6 apiece and a program from U2's Vertigo tour for a whole dollar. We eyed some of the $20 merch, like a Who pajama top, Pretenders baseball-style button-up and a most excellent olive T from U2's War tour, but didn't bite (yet). Rocks Off Jr. visited a little earlier than we did, and judging by his Twitter updates from the sale, will be sporting a new wardrobe for quite some time.
Most of the T-shirts were $6 - KISS, Motley Crue, Springsteen, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Beatles, Who, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne fans, take heed - but we also spied some crepe-paper-thin Beatles Help! shirts, a KISS dress for $20 and about the cutest piece of baby rock and roll gear we've ever seen, a tiny toddler T-shirt featuring an actual child's rendering of AC/DC's Angus Young or one that certainly could be. Baby is never too young to get started down that highway to hell.

Rocks Off is not exactly sure how much merch is left over from Sunday, but the stage of HOB's main Music Hall was full of boxes, so there should be plenty. As we were leaving, we noticed they had put out several Petty shirts that weren't there when we arrived, so we may well make a second trip over to the Peacock on our lunch hour ourselves.
