Houston Press Music Awards Moved To November (Probably)
2010 HPMA Musician of the Year Nick Gaitan accepts his award.
Recently Rocks Off has been getting phone calls, emails and even one early-morning text message from someone who apparently has our private number (but we don't have theirs) wondering whatever happened to the Houston Press Music Awards.
Yes, they are still happening. But we here Rocks Off and the Houston Press have heard what many of you have been saying, and trust us, we sympathize. So it is with no small amount of personal relief that we can officially announce that the Awards are moving far enough into the fall that you better bring a jacket with you this year.
Since we don't have a venue for either the Showcase or the Ceremony lined up, we can't tell you exactly where or when just yet. We are looking at one of the first two weekends in November; trust us, we will let you know as soon as we know anything definite.
This may seem like a long time in the future, but trust us it's not. By the end of the month, we will have the HPMA nomination ballot ready. We have already started to think about which categories should be added, dropped and modified.
By all means, please let us know your suggestions in the comments. Thanks, and see you in the fall.
