Self-proclaimed "suicide rock" ensemble Katatonia only knows three major chords, and only plays two of them. With roots in depressive, growly doom-metal – a style they've long abandoned but usually revisit for at least one song in concert — the Swedish band plays expansive Pink Floyd-ish hard rock with a serious dark side. Supporting are Finnish melodic black-metal ensemble Swallow the Sun and Israeli folk-metal crew Orphaned Land. One of these bands is bound to have some optimism...somewhere.
