KTRU Outdoor Show

Long-running, presently embattled Houston college-radio institution KTRU celebrates its 20th annual Outdoor Show in grand style Saturday, with a day's worth of free local and international indie-rock and hip-hop on the Rice University quad and inside the school's grand hall. One-man chillwave outfit Washed Out leads the pack, with Ernest Greene's beds of synths and beats getting all Moroder with it as the night's headliners. Houston will also be graced by one of the newest indie supergroups of sorts with Mister Heavenly, which not only includes members of Man Man, The Unicorns, and Modest Mouse, but also Juno baby-daddy and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World star Michael Cera as touring bassist. The mighty Grandfather Child heads the local side of the lineup, alongside Young Mammals, the road-weary Tontons and hip-hop phenom Fat Tony.
