Lonesome Onry and Mean: Don't Piss On My Boots
A couple of important Americana shows have slipped under the radar this week. Whisky Priest Dustin Welch rolls into the Continental with Small Sounds. Welch's debut album Whisky Priest has remained in LOM's player much of the year and should find considerable support when the annual top albums lists start pouring out in December.
And Louisville singer-songwriter Mickey Clark makes a rare Texas appearance. He'll be doing an instore performance at Cactus Music at 3 pm Saturday before heading down the Gulf Freeway to the Old Quarter in Galveston for a show. Clark, accompanied by longtime Townes van Zandt picker Mickey White, will undoubtedly be playing his hilarious "Don't Piss On My Boots and Tell Me It's Raining which got a lot of Americana radio play.
Dustin Welch with Small Sounds, 1 pm Friday Sept. 18, Continental Club, 3700 Main, 713-529-9666
Mickey Clark, 9 pm Saturday Sept. 19, Old Quarter Acoustic Café, 413 20th St., Galveston, 409-762-9199
