What does MDC stand for? Millions of Dead Cops or MILFs Date Cougars, depending on your mood, we guess, but anyone who has been immersed in Steven Blush's indispensable scene tome American Hardcore: A Tribal History should know all about the band's integral part in hardcore punk history. The group formed in Austin in 1979, but found themselves in San Francisco carousing with the Dead Kennedys by 1982. Singer Dave Dictor and his accomplices spent the next decade fighting the system in VFW halls and squatty venues with songs like "I Remember" and "John Wayne Was a Nazi" until their 1995 breakup. Dictor re-formed MDC in 2000, frequently changing lineups as the decade went on.
