Rocks Off reached out to the artists playing this year's Houston Press Music Awards showcase Sunday, August 5, and asked them to introduce themselves. Here's what they sent back.

Rocks Off: When and where was your first gig in Houston, and how did it go?
Another Run: The first show we ever played as Another Run was at the legendary Cole Theatre, originally "The Liberty" and aka The Ft. Bend Opry House, which is in luxurious downtown Rosenberg, Texas, so not really Houston, I guess.
That was in October 2002. At the time [we were] only a three-piece and with no vocals except for a cover sang by drummer Adrian Grammer. Long story short, over the years he became the lead singer and drummer... then finally, years later, took on the role of front man with the addition of a new lead drummer shortly thereafter, also adding a second guitar player solidifying the lineup.
The first show we played was an incredible night at Fitzgerald's on December 26, 2010, supporting our friends American Fangs.
RO: What Houston-area venues do you play most often?
AR: Fitzgerald's and Warehouse Live have probably been played the most often.
RO: How often do you play in the area?
AR: It really depends. Sometimes we will play headlining shows every other month or so, or sometimes we may have a spurt of shows supporting our friends all in a row. We definitely want as many people to hear us as possible and support the thriving local music scene.
RO: Describe your sound in eight words or less.
AR: Rock, indie, soul, jazz, blues, pop, progressive... original.
RO: How did you come up with your name?
AR: After playing Dave Mirra Pro BMX for days and days in the Summer of 2002...
RO: Where would you like yourself or your band to be in one year? Ten years? Forty?
One Year: Touring the country constantly. Ten years: Touring worldwide. Forty: Touring the depths of the universe.
