Rocks Off: When and where was your first gig in Houston, and how did it go?
Brompton: Our first show was in the studio at Warehouse Live and it went great. We were extremely fortunate to have the support and turnout we did.

RO: What Houston-area venues do you play most often?
B: We definitely play Warehouse more than anywhere else, and probably more times than I can count...
RO: How often do you play in the area?
B: We play Warehouse pretty consistently, at least once a month.
RO: Describe your sound in eight words or less.
B: Alternative rock with progressive and punk influences...
RO: How did you come up with your name?
B: The name Brompton came from the late 19th-century pain elixir, the Brompton Cocktail, which is a mixture of cocaine, morphine, chloroform, and ethyl alcohol(essentially drinking alcohol)... It was something given, though rarely, to terminally ill patients for pain, and its use today is rare, as the contents by themselves, let alone together, are extremely dangerous.
Despite its nature, though, it was created with good intentions, again, to ease pain. For us that struck a chord as the music industry is something you can go into with the best intentions, but end up coming out of with a negative result. The name serves as a regular reality check and reminder of our goals.
RO: Where would you like yourself or your band to be in one year? Ten years? Forty?
B: In a year hopefully recording a full length follow up to the EP we're currently recording... in ten years, as long as we're still making real music, we'll be happy. And in 40, hopefully creeping up on retirement haha.
RO: What is one thing you'd like to do (as a musician) before you pack it in?
B: Leave a positive mark... open some eyes to great music, and maybe inspire more kids to pick up a guitar.
Brompton plays the HPMA showcase 5 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Reserve 101, 1201 Caroline.
