Rocks Off: When and where was your first gig in Houston, and how did it go?
Downfall 2012: Downfall 2012 has been around forever but this line-up's first gig was at Fuel Café (Humble) in early 2007. It was awesome! That venue has always been extremely generous! They helped us promote and put on a great debut show with the new lineup! RO: What Houston-area venues do you play most often?
DF2012: House of Blues, Scout Bar, The 19th Hole, Acadia and countless dive/sports bars which we LOVE!
RO: How often do you play in the area?
DF2012: All the time when not on the road. Literally every week is another H-Town adventure these days!
RO: Describe your sound in eight words or less.
DF2012: Purged pop metal punk craziness...
RO: How did you come up with your name?
DF2012: As a kid I (Danny) was intrigued by all the popular "doomsdays." 2012 seemed to be the most convincing. We already were going by Downfall but there is a "Downfall" in every city of the world so we slapped a 2012 on it.
Over the years the name grew to hold more validity within the interpersonal workings of our band and crew. Yes, we will remain Downfall 2012 if we all survive doomsday this year! lol
RO: Where would you like yourself or your band to be in one year? Ten years? Forty?
DF2012: In one year on the road supporting our newest record.
In ten years on the road permanently and on larger-name tours.
In 40 years headlining giant venues across the world...SHOOT FOR THE STARS!!!
RO: What is one thing you'd like to do (as a musician) before you pack it in?
DF2012: To allow for our music to take us overseas. We would love to travel and perform internationally and to play for the troops!
Downfall 2012 plays the HPMA showcase 8 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Lucky's Pub, 801 St. Emanuel.
