Mia Borders

Artists like Mia Borders are what makes festivals like iFest worth going to — walk up to the stage with no idea who this person is and walk away a fan. In this case, Borders is a young woman who has captured the heart of her hometown New Orleans with a modern take on soul, R&B and swamp-rock, as heard on her 2010 LP Magnolia Blue. At iFest Borders threw in some brick-thick funk and sizzling guitar skills, so it's not hard to imagine her tempting Thursday's crowd to make good use of what little dancing room there is at the Duck.
