Summer is coming to an end (sort of), so the time is right for a Saturday-night party with several of the scene's newer bands and the odd spanking or two. Hey, why not? Recent Houston Press Music Award Best Rock winners The Trimms go on last, if anything (or anyone) is still standing by about 12:45 a.m., and there are no guarantees about that. Also on the bill are alt-country rookies of the year Second Lovers, chicken-fried veterans Deadend Cowboys, boy-girl duo Fox & Cats, the brooding yet sturdy March to the Sea, accordion-squeezing Shotgun Funeral and hell on wheels the Bad Drugs, whose drummer was arrested for violating the noise ordinance after an impromptu outdoor show near Washington Avenue back in May. Between sets, watch out for spoken-word, performance art, hula-hooping and, indeed, public spankings. Guess you'll just have to come see for yourself.
