Rocks Off would just like to plant a little bug in everyone's ear that we hope you're hanging around your computer tomorrow afternoon - or, if need be, your smartphone - because we're going to announce a few more artists playing the Houston Press' first-ever Best of Houston® BestFest next month.
Yes, more. Honestly, we're not 100 percent sure how many more at the moment, but we can promise you two things: You're probably going to like them; and none of them are going to have to travel very far to get to the Midtown superblock. Some of them not very far at all... we hope.
Rocks Off passes the superblock just about every day on the train, and there's going to be plenty of room for everyone. Hell, just go ahead and take the train yourself and get off at the McGowen stop.
So, yes, the lineup is getting pretty crowded at this point. Here it is again:
Saturday, September 24: Bun B - happy Bun B Day, btw - Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Against Me!, The Tontons, ???
Sunday, September 25: Cake, Deer Tick, Hayes Carll, Carolyn Wonderland, Buxton, ???
There you go. Rocks Off imagines it won't be too much longer before we are able to start announcing stage times and whatnot. Festival hours are noon-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-8p.m. Sunday. We understand the weather may be down to the luxuriant mid to upper 90s by then.
We'd also like to remind you that prices for BestFest weekend passes increase from $25 (GA) and $95 (VIP) to $40 and $150 on Thursday, so now's your chance. Could somebody tell us how it got to be almost September already?
And even though we are a music blog, we feel like we should point out there is a lot more to BestFest than just music - lots of food and drink from some former Best of Houston®-winning culinarios, traditional festival activities like face-painting and a "live graffiti wall." We are very interested in seeing how that turns out.

Not very long ago, most of Midtown was a live graffiti wall, but we digress. Buy tickets and see more information at bestfesthouston.com. (We believe you can also register for SMS alerts there.) The tweeters among you can stay up to the minute at @HouBestFest.
As for the reason this whole shootin' match got started in the first place, vote in this year's Best of Houston® poll right here, right now. See you tomorrow.
