This time last year, very few people outside the members of New York City Queens and Featherface's families had heard either name, so that both local groups are playing upstairs at Fitz on a weekend night really says something. Besides certain musical similarities — both groups play tuneful rock and roll that glides rather than drives; the sound is not self-consciously retro or indie but somehow both classic and current — the Queens and Featherface share a quick work ethic: Both are supporting brand-new debut albums in Burn Out Like Roman Candles and Actual Magic, respectively. Friday feels like it may be the beginning of something much bigger.
