Rad Bash

This weekend's eighth annual Rad Bash at the Continental Club benefits Music Therapy of Houston, which, according to its Web site, aims to use music to "address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals of all ages." Longtime Houston punk scene luminary Rad Rich has put together a solid afternoon of punk, bluegrass and hardcore to raise money for the charity. One of the standouts is Johnny Rioux & the Compound Family, formed by Street Dogs bassist Rioux, which turns out bluegrass punk-rock covers. Houston rapper Cornbreadd has also signed on to perform, as have old-school skate-thrashers Contortion Session. Rounding out the bill are The Burden, Girl Band and about a dozen others, all rocking out for a more than worthy cause.
