Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger of The Doors
Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, two of the three remaining members of iconic classic-rock group The Doors, are touring here in 2011, performing songs they recorded with noted madman and amateur shaman Jim Morrison at their '60s and early '70s zenith. Drummer John Densmore has declined every Doors reunion along the way, even suing over the use of the moniker, forcing Manzarek and Krieger to use alterations in billing. The pair first began touring anew in 2002, using The Cult's Ian Astbury as a Lizard King stand-in before moving on to Fuel front man Brett Scallions and then Croatian singer Miljenko Matijevic. In 2011, the band employs the voice of utterly Jim-like Dave Brock, who fronts Doors tribute act Wild Child. Typical Ray and Robby set lists this go-round have included not only standard Doors staples like "Love Her Madly" and "Break on Through," but more adventuresome fare like "Hyacinth House" and "Moonlight Drive."
