Turning the Screw: Flatline & Trae, Eminem, T.I., Jay-Z, Nas & Kelis, The Kanye, Danger Mouse, Devin the Dude and More
Welcome back to Turning the Screw, Rocks Off's weekly rap post. It probably won't rhyme, at least most of the time. E-mail tips to email@example.com. Thanks, homies. Single of the Week: Flatline feat. Trae, "Fuckin' With Texas"
Eminem says he's the reason forthe Chinese Democracy-ness of Dr. Dre's long-awaited Detox.
Slaughterhouse, an MC group made up of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da' 5'9",will release its album soon

The man who allegedly shot and killed rapper Dolla is claiming self defense. T.I. is appealing where he's being sent to serve his prison sentence. Said T.I. when asked where it was that he'd like to serve his prison sentence: "Ummm, how about not in prison? Is that a possibility?" Jay-Z buys out his contract with Def Jam. Nasty Nas would like to go Dutch with Kelis on their new baby. Wouldn't it be great if, when asked about the impending birth of said baby, Nas replied with "The new baby is slated to drop July 21"? Okay, okay, we'll admit: Despite our clear disdain for Plies, the brainless brawn of his "Plenty Money" is very affecting. "Just bought another house, the last one was boring" - that's a great line. Masculinity is hip-hop today is rare, apparently. Remember that video of The Kanye smashing that photographer's camera to bits? He must not have, because he totally pled not guilty to charges regarding the incident. Because it somehow came up in a conversation - for the first time, like, ever - here's Cam'ron and Mase's "Horse and Carriage."
How about Danger Mouse releasing a blank CD-R as his next album? Crazy, right? Lil' Kim to write a book about her prison sentence; literary world rejoices. (By the way, doesn't she look horrible in that "Computer Love" video? It almost masks how bad the actual song is. Almost.) Yung Joc plans to take Diddy to court, alleging his royalties were withheld. Somehow, despite his CD being absolutely terrible, we've always been kinda partial to Joc, so we're rooting for him. It probably has something to do with him wearing a leisure suit in that "Lookin' Boy" video. You know, out of all the rapper concerts that have been going on lately, we never would've guessed that gunshots would've been fired at a Drake concert. Seriously, how amped up can you get listening to "Best I Ever Had"? Houston Rap Video of the Week Because you either missed it or forgot about it:
