Turning the Screw: Lil Keke, Trae, Dre vs. Rush Limbaugh, Weezer, Weezy, Chamillionaire, 50 vs. Jay-Z, The Kanye, Nas, DMX, Big Pokey, etc.
Welcome back to Turning the Screw, Rocks Off's weekly rap post. It probably won't rhyme, at least most of the time. E-mail tips to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks, homies.
Why yes, there are songs that features both Weezer and Weezy and Weezer and Chamillionaire. Why do you ask? Speaking of, Weezy is going to spend a year in the clink. Wait. Do people call it "the clink" anymore? Did anyone ever call it that? We are so not hood. Dilla Day went down this past weekend. Which reminds us, what ever happened to Screwfest? The timbers of a 50 Cent/Jay-Z beef are in place. Please let this happen, because up to this point, the most interesting hip-hop-based quarrel took place between Mariah Carey and Eminem. And that's including the Rick Ross/50 debacle, which, by the way, is still going on. (That's how boring it's become as of late.) Not dead after all: The Kanye. Only three rap albums released this year have been certified platinum. Can you guess what they are? Here's a hint: Fast Life was not one of them. We're torn on how to feel about Gucci Mane. On the one hand, he seems like somebody we should enjoy. On the other, he named himself Gucci Mane. Perhaps his new album will help. David Banner's anti-violence rally has been postponed because they're hoping to secure more security for the event. Is that ironic? Seems like it is. Nas owes the IRS millions in taxes. Yipes. What the H? Mase is still with Bad Boy? That's a long-ass contract. Shouldn't it have been voided when Diddy changed his name that second, third or fourth time? Cormega is upset because Drake's parents were responsible or something. We'll never fully understand rappers. If you try to stop DMX from performing at a function, you can absolutely expect to find yourself in a fistfight. Houston Rap Video of the Week Because you either missed it or forgot about it:
