Two Cow Garage has generated considerable buzz, impressive online sales and a ton of press with its debut release, Please Turn the Gas Back On. Fronted by 21-year-old Micah Schnabel from Bucyrus, Ohio, this young threesome plays with a loud, bull-necked, fuzzy alt-country-meets-indie-rock heartland jangle that sounds like its admitted-biggest-influence Uncle Tupelo on a bad hair day. The album is also reminiscent of early Slobberbone, for whom TCG has been opening. Young Schnabel has a knack for hooks, and some of the songs contain lots of youthful crash-and-bang exuberance and a snarly wiseassness, while others are leavened with the angst and resignation of small-town fellows trying to make their way in the big city. Their show at Rudyard's will be a tune-up for a September 8 showcase performance at the Americana Music Association conclave in Nashville. Together only two years, this Buckeye State band bears watching.
