Yo Gabba Gabba!'s Greatest Hits
A year ago, in honor of Sesame Street's 40th birthday, Rocks Off brought you a list of the beloved television program's 10 Best Musical Appearances.
But 41 years ago, Nickelodeon didn't exist. Now the network is known for its retro-cool vibe, thanks to bringing back shows from the golden age of television like The Brady Bunch and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, and for introducing kids of my generation to music-centric programming like The Adventures of Pete & Pete and Roundhouse.
Shut up. You know that show was awesome.
And it is Nick that has brought us the coolest and worthiest successor to the Sesame Street throne. Move over Barney and Teletubbies. DJ Lance Rock, his magical boombox and his secret friends Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex are all here to steal your thunder. Yo Gabba Gabba!

Need proof of how cool the show is? It was created in part by Aquabats lead singer Christian Jacobs, who recently baptized four little kids into the world of punk rock by tossing them into the crowd at a show.
It also features regular segments with Biz Markie and the pug-loving Mark Mothersbaugh. Not only that, but each character speaks to a different personality, from shy Brobee to girly Foofa to the bug-loving Muno. The caliber of musical guests both onstage and on screen makes the show fun for adults as well as kids.
Tomorrow afternoon the live version of Yo Gabba Gabba hits town with two performances at the Hobby Center, 2:30 and 6 p.m. Live shows have been known to feature guests like Sarah Silverman, the Aquabats, Run-DMC, Snoop Dogg, The Roots, Erykah Badu and more. Tickets are still available for the early performance.
To whet your appetite, here are 10 of the best musical performances from the show's three-year run. Because listening and dancing to music is awesome.
Let's see those glitter hands!
The Ting Tings
I wish everyone would wear a shirt of my face on my birthday.
Rocks Off doesn't even like this band, but look at how willing they are to make themselves look goofy.
Not many adults even know about experimental Japanese punk rocker Cornelius, but your kids probably do, thanks to this.
Forget the fact, for just a second, that The Roots are everywhere these days. This is a sweet song.
'80s music video effects, a voice box and a giant sink. Right about 1:10 it gets hilarious.
Of course Money Mark has an army of robot musicians.
