11-Month-Old Baby Girl Caught in Spray of Gunfire, Bayou Body Count No. 135
An 11-month-old girl's brief life was snuffed out when she was struck by a spray of bullets fired in a walk-by shooting, Houston police say.
The infant's identity has not been released pending verification, but she was pronounced dead at Texas Children's Hospital after the incident in front of her family's home about 3 a.m. Saturday. The shots were fired in the 8300 block of Ponnel.
HPD says the girl "and several other persons were inside a vehicle parked in the driveway at the above address when an unknown male suspect fired several rounds in the vehicle's direction, striking it several times. One of the bullets penetrated the back seat of the car and struck the child."
No motive for the shooting has been established.
