Capital murder charges have been filed in the case of an 18-year-old Sugar Land man who was killed when an alleged drug deal went bad two weeks ago.
Aaron Jamal Smith, 19, was arrested without incident Monday, HPD says.
He is charged in the death of Hamza Raza, which happened shortly after midnight August 16 in the 13100 block of Carvel.
Police say this is what occurred:
Mr. Hamza met a male known only as "Dookie" at the above address to purchase an unknown type of narcotics. As Hamza tried to make his purchase, a second unknown male suspect pulled out a pistol and told Hamza to get on the ground. Hamza then tried to flee, but "Dookie" grabbed him. Hamza broke free and, as he again attempted to flee, he was fatally shot.
