Bats Invade Schools, Courthouses Across East Texas; Plans For World Domination Near Complete
Earlier this week, Hair Balls reported on a bat infestation at Clear Lake's Bay Elementary School.
Sadly, the problem is more serious than we knew. Much, much more serious.
Last month, the creepy flying mammals were spotted in another Clear Lake school, in that case, a ninth-grade center. Thought to be eradicated, they have returned, and much of the rest of the school district is on high alert, Ultimate Clear Lake reports:
Not only are they working to drive out the furry stragglers at the Clear Lake Ninth Grade Center, they're also taking precautions at four other schools where no bats have been spotted, including neighboring Clear Lake High School and Bay Elementary's next-door neighborhood Seabrook Intermediate. Measures are also being taken at Goforth Elementary and its neighbor League City Intermediate because there have been tell-tale signs of bat activity in the area.
Down the coast in Brazoria County, bats have also invaded several homes and Freeport's Jane Long Elementary, and Barbers Hill High School in the Chambers County town of Mont Belvieu was home to an unwanted colony earlier this month.
Late last year, a dead bat that later tested positive for rabies was found on the front porch of Buckalew Elementary in The Woodlands.
Regarding that case, Paul Grunenwald, a vet with the Texas Department of State Health Services, told The Woodlands Villager that bats in the schools were unusual.
"It's not real common," he said. "We have lots of bats throughout all of Texas. Schools are not more attractive than other places to bats."
We beg to differ.
The real question is, what are the bats planning to do once they have seized control of the state's legal and educational system?
