Bayou Body Count: They're Finding Dead Bodies Everywhere, Including The Jail
A 33-year-old man was driving southbound along the North Freeway near Patton when suddenly a hail-storm of bullets rained through his car. Police say the man drooped over into the passenger seat, losing control of his car as it smashed into a concrete barrier wall. The car then lost its right front tire, rebounded off the wall and came to a stop. Witnesses of the crash last Friday at about 1 a.m. ran over to the vehicle and saw that the man had been shot several times.
Police have no description of the car or the shooter but continue to investigate.

Houston Police and HPD Internal Affairs detectives are looking into the death of an inmate at the city jail last Wednesday located at 61 Riesner. Investigators say that jailors found Lee Roy Johns, 56, who had been arrested earlier that morning on charges of driving while intoxicated, unconscious in his cell during a routine cell-check. Jail medical staff attended to Johns, who had no pulse and was not breathing, and transported him to Christus St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are waiting for the autopsy results to determine how and why Johns died. Police say he had a prior medical history, but did not elaborate.
Finally, police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 11600 Chimney Rock last Thursday. Someone called Houston firefighters about a "person down" and they found the man's body. He appeared to have been shot once.
