Bayou Body Count: Two Dead East Of Downtown
Two men were shot and killed Wednesday morning during the attempted robbery of a Phillips 66 gas station east of Downtown. Chahzad Anwer Quraishi, 57, was dead at the scene. Mohammad Aziz Zubair, 55, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died.
Police say they received a call from Zubair at about 8:20 am about a robbery that was taking place at 3720 Harrisburg. When the cops arrived, the store was a mess, with items scattered about -- signs there had been a struggle. Nearby lay the two victims, riddled with multiple gunshots.
While on the phone with 911, Zubair was able to give police a brief description of the shooter, police say. Investigators are looking for an African-American man, 21 or 22-years-old, who was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
Police are also looking for the drivers of a white pickup truck, either a Ford or Chevy, that was seen parked nearby during the shooting. They hope the driver may have witnessed the incident and can help them find the killer.

Police have identified the victim of a shooting from last Thursday. Investigators say that Dhirubhai Karsaliya, 54, of Sugar Land was driving his car in the parking lot of the Ashford Point Apartments at 4040 Synott when someone shot him in the head. The vehicle then swerved and crashed into a retaining wall next to the Westpark Tollway. Karsaliya was alive when police found him and rushed him to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died two days later.
Houston police say they don't have many details right now, but that a body was found on the 10600 block of Wilcrest. The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the unidentified man was shot to death late last night.
Houston police say an unidentified 51-year-old Hispanic man was a victim of a shoot and run Tuesday night. Investigators believe that the victim and a pair of men got into a fight at the Meadow Chase apartments at 10603 Wilcrest. Thinking the fight ended, the victim began walking back to his apartment. But the other two men, according to police, were not finished. They returned, each armed with a gun, and began firing away, gunning the victim down from behind. Both suspects then fled on foot.
