Big Rig Accident Shuts Down I-45 North, Requires Haz-Mat Cleanup
An 18-wheeler was involved in an accident this morning at around 4 a.m. on I-45 North (the northbound side) in Spring near Spring Stuebner. The wreck resulted in a diesel spill that triggered a haz-mat cleanup. Making matters worse, the spill forced the closure of all lanes of the North Freeway.
Fortunately, being that it is the day after Christmas and traffic is moving northbound instead of in toward Houston, traffic, while substantial, wasn't as bad as it could have been. There are still delays of up to an hour going north on 45, though traffic does appear to be getting through on the freeway with a couple of lanes still closed.
If you are heading out of town toward Dallas or just making a trip to The Woodlands this morning, you should take the Hardy Toll Road. It will cost you a few bucks of money but save you hundreds in sanity.
