Chevis Cooks, 31, Bayou Body Count No. 135
A man was shot to death in his car in broad daylight on the northside Thursday, Houston police say.
Chevis Cooks, 31, was shot in the 5500 block of Kashmere at about 11:30 a.m., HPD says. He was inside his vehicle at the time, and was the second person to be killed under those circumstances that morning. Oscar Ortiz Orozco, 53, was shot and killed in Greenspoint about six hours earlier.
He was transported to LBJ Hospital but died there.
