Comment of the Day: The Need for Motorcycle Helmets, Dammit
We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.
So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning or afternoon from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.
This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.
We wrote about the untimely death of Houston artist Jeremy Choate, killed when a car rammed into the motorcycle he was riding. We noted he wasn't wearing a helmet, and pleaded with bikers to use common sense.

Thank you for publishing this piece. It's sad that Choate was killed, but simple common-sense safety measures might have saved his life. Not wearing a helmet is akin to driving after drinking - it's a risk you take, deliberately, and it's less than honest to pretend Choate didn't make a bad choice.
