Coogs for the Cure: Great Sports, Great Cause This Weekend
The University of Houston Athletics Department's Coogs for the Cure is giving you a chance to have fun while raising money in the battle against breast cancer this weekend. Come cheer your favorite team, whichever one it may be, when UH takes on Rice in volleyball and soccer, and then takes on the University of Texas-El Paso in football.
The Coogs for the Cure events support Komen Houston, the Houston Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which was established in 1990 "to provide innovative breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects for the medically underserved and uninsured in Southeast Texas."
First, UH and Rice duke it out on the volleyball court Friday, October 26, at 5 p.m. You can also check out soccer that same evening at 7 p.m. On October 27, check out some good football as the Coogs take on the Miners at 3:30 pm.
Tickets are available online at www.UHCougars.com, or for discounted football tickets (and to be a part of the halftime pink ribbon), go to www.UHCougars.com/Pinkfootball.com and use the promo code "PINK."
Komen Houston has more than 1,500 volunteers and has granted more than $9 million for research nationally -- plus over $28 million for community grants in Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty and Montgomery counties.
