David Aric Ladewig: Child Porn-Laden Laptop Doesn't Make It Through Customs at Bush

Ladewig apparently didn't think feds wouldn't mind his massive child porn stash.

David Aric Ladewig is an American citizen who lives and works in Cancun. On a return trip to the states, he brought along his laptop and an external hard drive.

Which probably wasn't the brightest of ideas, because they were loaded with more than 1,500 images and videos of child pornography.

Last September, as Ladewig was landing in Houston, Customs and Border Protection officers discovered he "was a match for an individual suspected of downloading and collecting child pornography," the U.S. Attorney's office says, so they asked for and received permission to do forensics on the computer.

He was allowed to continue on to Michigan for a family visit, but the inspection showed the large child-porn stash.

A month later he tried to return to Cancun, apparently thinking the feds had decided to let bygones be bygones on this one. Instead he was arrested at Bush.

He entered a guilty plea yesterday to possession of child pornography and faces up to ten years and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing is set for October, and he remains in custody until then.
